Hedgehog Colors

The following are the colors as recognized by the International Hedgehog Association. For images of the hedgehog colors please vist the IHA's Colour Guide or the color guide on Hedgehog Central.

Salt & Pepper
   Spines are white, banded with black;
   Face is white with black mask, ears, and nose;
   Shoulder skin is black

Dark Grey
   Spines are white, banded with black with narrow brown outer edges;
   Face is white with black mask, ears, and nose;
   Shoulder Skin is a dark gray

Grey
   Spines are white, banded by black with rusty brown outer edges;
   Face is white with black Mask, ears, and nose;
   Shoulder Skin is gray

Chocolate
   Spines are white, banded by dark brown;
   Face is masked with a light brown, the nose is liver colored;
   Shoulder skin is light gray

Brown
   Spines are white banded by light oak brown;
   Face may have a light mask; Nose is liver colored;
   Shoulder Skin is pinkish-gray

Cinnamon
   Spines are white banded by a light cinnamon brown;
   No Mask, liver colored nose;
   Shoulder Skin is pink

Champagne
   Spines are white banded by (75%) orange-beige and (25%) cinnamon
    No Mask, pink eyes, pinkish nose;
    Sholder Skin is pink   

Apricot
   Spines are white, banded by a light orange-beige;
   No mask, pink eyes, pink nose;
   Shoulder Skin is pink

Silver
    Same features as the Salt & Pepper;
    Band coloring is closer towards the base of the quill making the
    hedgie appear to be silved when relaxed

Charcoal
    Recessive of the Gray; 30%-70% of the spines are white;
    Remainder are banded by balck with brown outer edges;
    Other characteristics are the same as the Gray

Chocolate Chip
    Recessive of the Chocolate; 30%-70% of the spines are white;
    Remaining characteristics are the same as the Chocolate

Brown Snowflake
    Recessive of the Brown; 30%-70% of the spines are white;
    Remaining characteristics are the same as the Brown

Cinnamon Snowflake
    Recessive of the Cinnamon; 30%-70% of the spines are white;
    Remaining characteristics are the same as the Cinnamon

Champagne Snowflake
    Recessive of the Champagne; 30%-70% of the spines are white;
    The remaining characteristics are the same as the Champagne

Apricot Snowflake
    Recessive of the Apricot, 30%-70% of the spines are white;
    The remaining characteristics are the same as the Apricot.

Pale Apricot Snowflake
    Double Recessive of the Apricot; 30%-70% of the spines are white;
    The remaining quills are banded by a very pale orange-beige;
    The remaining characteristics are the same as the Apricot

Platinum
    95%-97% of the spines are white
    Remaining spines are a light gray
    Remaining Characteristics are the same as the Salt and Pepper

Charcoal White
    95%-97% of the spines are white;
    Remaining spines are black with rusty brown outer edges;
    Remaining characteristics are the same as the Gray

Chocolate White
    95%-97% of the spines are white;
    Remaining spines are banded by chocolate brown;
    Remaining Characteristics are the same as the Chocolate

Brown White
    95%-97% of the spines are white;
    Remaining spines are banded by oak brown
    Remainging characteristics are the same.

White
    95%-97% of the spines are white;
    Remaining spines are banded by a pale cinnamon brown;
    Remaining characteristics are the same

Albino
    All the spines are white, eyes are red, nose is pink, fur is white
